Earlier this week it was reported that eBay may be delving into cryptocurrency. At the Consensus conference in New York City, the e-commerce giant eBay appeared to be promoting the implementation of cryptos on its platform. Sparking speculation as to how the website would implement them and if they were planning to make their own cryptocurrency.
A billboard that appeared at the Consensus conference said that virtual currencies were coming to the eBay platform which allegedly pushed the prices to a new bull market and added billions to the market capitalization.
Yet eBay has debunked the rumors of introducing crypto payments option on its platform, according to a Bloomberg report. A spokesperson for eBay addressed the ongoing rumours directly, stating: “Cryptocurrency is not accepted as a form of payment on the eBay platform, nor is it part of our payments strategy.”
Other reports indicated that the e-commerce giant only had issued those ads because you could sell Bitcoin and other digital asset miners (ASICs) on the platform. Though the company denied the rumors, many experts believe that it had already contributed in the recent Bitcoin price rally
